Today I made my first flower arrangement. I bought the flowers yesterday so I was all prepared. I bought -light pink rose-, - dark, light purple carnations-,and tiny flowers.( I’m not sure about the names..) - concept for this one is ‘Spring’. I made it in a pink basket that has a lid on. My mom taught me basic techniques, so I think I didn’t fail. I was so excited for it.
The first step was, soaking the oasis in the water for ten minutes. While the oasis is getting prepared, cut the flower’s leaves and make them neat. When the oasis is ready, cut the flower’s stem and put the flowers in the oasis in the shape that you want. It was pretty easy to do! Kennedy helped me cut the flower stems and organize the flower. I think that was very helpful!! For some improvements, I think I need to learn more skills to make it more high-quality flower arrangement.

For my new project, I decided to challenge myself with flower arrangement. I always find nice flower arrangements in fashion boutique or interior design shops. I also got inspired by my mom's flower arrangements. This time, I only have four weeks. So, I decided to make 4 flower arrangements that represents the four seasons.
Here are the brainstormings of my plan for the following 4 weeks. Following my previous project of sewing and making my own clothes, for this project, I hoped to create unique designs and add them on the clothes or other products to complete them in to more sophisticated look. I decided to use screen printing method because once I choose one design, I can print many of them on various products with this method.
I wasn’t expecting to do any sewing, but while I was continuing this project, not only having printings on my clothes, but I also made bags with sewing. Even though I printed each design on one product not the same design on ten of them, every single time I tried a new design, new ideas popped up. So, I ended up using art works and quotes on T-shirts, bags, and masks. It was challenging to make the stencil that I designed, but I figured it out. I always like making clothes in more sophisticated way. I wanted to create and add unique designs on the clothes or other products to complete them into more refined look. I decided to use screen printing method because once I choose one design, I can print many of them on various products with this method. Later when I am successful to have the most favorite design, I can print it on many pieces and maybe sell them in the weekend flea market. I was self motivated after my first project of sewing. However, I had to learn screen print, and asked Ms.Anna for help. She showed me her screen printing tutorial and it helped me work printing by myself. While I was continuing my project, I decided to make a bag too. Then, Ms. Helen again taught me the stronger sewing technique so that I could make a clutch and a cross bag by myself. I think I used both HWOO (How We Organize Ourselves) and HWEO (how we express ourselves.) I planned work process by myself. I used quotes that is connected to express myself. I used the word “unlimited” in every thing that I made. Also, I chose to do this project because I really enjoyed doing it. I think the first skill that I developed is self - management skill. In my blog, I wrote my six week plan. Then I followed the work process based on this plan. I also developed thinking skill to create new designs and product. I think time- management skill was important so that I could finish my project in time. Sometimes when I had to work on printing I couldn’t do it because the art room was full. However, I figured out another solution like carving my logo stamp for my product instead. I wanted to make my print more colorful and detailed, but I learned that when I put more time into my product the better quality I get. The math that were integrated in my learning was measurements. To make a bag I had to measure the length of the piece of strap that goes on the shoulder and the size of the bag. For the literacy skill, I developed my data recording skills. I wrote some blogs to show my learning process.I wrote some blogs, but I wanted to add more pictures and it would be better. I think it is gradually getting better. I think Ms. Anna’s screen printing tutorials and art pattern books helped me proceed this project. Based on my experience, I think motivation is the way to success. I got motivated from my first project already. So I continued my first project to develop further for my second project. I think it was a success because I enjoyed doing it. I still want to continue to the next project. I think I am going to persevere this project. I want to try more detailed printings and try adding more colors, but not only on clothes . I think this project is very fun to do and I enjoy it very much! Last week, I had lots of improvements for my six week process. I carved the logo of my nickname out of an eraser so that I could print it on my bag. Also, I made a screen printed bag that I could wear on my shoulder. This time I printed a quote. It is called“ Life is Unlimited.” I think the word ‘ unlimited’ is a very unique word to express yourself.I added some details as well (like glitter, paint, ect.) to make it into more sophisticated looking than before. Now the bag is more colorful and prettier. In the sewing part, I was very lucky that I found Ms. Helen, and she helped me sew to make a shoulder cross bag. Actually, I think I am feeling great with this result! My bag looks awesome and it is strong enough to hold my laptop! Starting this week, my goal is to print various quotes and pictures on some shirts. Also, this is my last week so I must work hard on it to complete my project!!!!
